This event included 4 haunts, the Kansas City Ghosts and Gangsters Tour and 2 days of Panel Discussions and Seminars. Haunters from across the US gathered together to network, catch up & experience some of the most interesting haunts around.
I am not sure how I feel about what I experienced. That in itself makes them great because they left a lasting impression on me. And a few bruises.
Here on the West Coast “those that regulate us” are all about ADA compliance, fire codes & safety. These haunt did not seem to tackle such matters. Out front were the customary disclaimers (that I have never really given much notice to) that I actually read after encountering the first haunt. These haunts were physically challenging, filled with fog and so dimly light that tripping was a bona fide concern. The multiple story buildings require stairs cases and narrow passageways, slides were utilized for descending and the air quality was affected by the lack of ventilation and fog machines. But did these make for a “bad” haunt? No! They decrease my comfort level, elevated my awareness and made me anxious. Things that a great haunt should do.
