This past weekend I ventured out to Scrapyard Massacre (www.facebook.com/scrapyardmassacre) for a stroll through the junk yard. This place keeps getting more professional (that’s a good thing) while keeping the creepiness intact. Be sure to wear boots or weather proof shoes as the path gets soggy, and bring Cash.
Next I visited my old stomping grounds, aka- The Bay Area.
With grandsons in tow I was treated to a special preshow tour of Goblyns Glen (www.goblynsglen.com) The story goes “long ago in the nights of old, there was a small town called Goblyns Glen, where it is said, Halloween began. Guests will enter a world of enchantment, wonder, and spooky thrills as they trick or treat their way through this magical place that only appears for those that truly believe in the wonder of Halloween.” This exceptionally well themed, VERY family friendly attraction is Disney quality and the staff perfectly suited for a theater performance. Hopefully next year my little’s will be ready for the full experience.
Next up was a trip to the coast where a gourd weighing 2,058 pounds grown in Napa Valley took first prize and set a new tournament record at the annual pumpkin-weighing contest in Half Moon Bay. Nothing makes my haunted heart happier than seeing fields covered in pumpkins.
A special invite rounded out the long weekend as we attended the Haunters Night at ScareCo Haunted Attraction. (www.scarecopro.com) Housed in Oakland's 102-year-old abandoned train station they set up 4 sights to thrill n chill. Platform 13, where you board the ghost train and hope to return to the land of the living. Contact, your chance at watching a ghost hunter. The activity in the station has been strongest in one location. They have located the epicenter, set up testing equipment, and you’re sitting in it. Kaiju (大怪獣 die’-kie’-joo) n. Giant strange creature or “giant monster”.- Cleve Hall, star of Monster Man, brings you a unique attraction unlike anything you have ever seen. (If you get to see it) And the Last Ride, where they dare you to lie in a coffin for unique experience.
While at the Haunters night I was lucky enough to visit (briefly) with Karl & Brian Fields of POE (Pirates of Emerson) and Topher & Karen from Wicked Woods/Goblins Glenn.
All in all it was a most excellent weekend befitting this spine-chilling time of year.
